The Jumin Medical Foundation held the “Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of Jumin Hospital” on February 1, 2023. The ceremony was led by Archie Hwang, Chairman of the Foundation; CC Leung, Board Member; Chi-Hung Lin, President of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU); Yueh-Ping Liu, Director-General of the Department of Medical Affairs (MOHW); alongside guests from the design and construction teams. The ritual was held at the Bo-Ai Campus of NYCU.
The preparatory phase for Jumin Hospital began in 2016, with construction permits granted by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Through an industry-academic collaboration agreement between NYCU and the Jumin Medical Foundation, the hospital is set to integrate medicine, bioscience engineering, electronics, ICT, and artificial intelligence to propel the development of Taiwan’s healthcare industry.
Jumin Hospital will feature 15 stories above ground and 4 stories underground, with a total floor area of 86,503 square meters. It is designed as a “digital native” smart hospital. Located at the Bo-Ai Campus in Hsinchu—the original site where National Chiao Tung University was re-established in Taiwan—this location holds historical significance as the birthplace of Taiwan’s first integrated circuit and its semiconductor industry. As part of the “Bo-Ai Campus Revitalization (BioICT®)” initiative, this land will be transformed into a premier hub for engineering biology and smart healthcare in Taiwan.
Jumin Hospital is scheduled for completion in 2028.
