Moving Beyond Conventional Boundaries Together
The journey to establish Jumin Hospital has taken more than a decade. Along the way, it has involved many challenges and changes, including moments shaped by shifting resources and evolving policies. What has sustained this journey is the support of many. The strength of the alumni community, in particular, has acted as an essential foundation. Their contributions have extended beyond financial support, bringing valuable expertise in medical technology and experience in planning and development. These efforts have helped forge a distinct path, allowing Jumin Hospital to grow in its own way.
A medical university needs its own hospital. Otherwise, medical education will hardly develop with full independence. National Yang Ming University has been fortunate to work closely with Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and together we have built some of Taiwan’s leading medical resources. To become a first-class research university and hospital, teaching, research, training, and clinical practice must be closely integrated. Jumin Hospital provides an ideal setting to assemble these elements.
Today, alumni of National Yang Ming University possess strong experience in medical education and clinical practice. Combined with the strengths of National Chiao Tung University in information and communication technology and engineering, Jumin Hospital will serve as an a central hub for integrated practice following the merger of the two universities. Here, medical students and researchers can engage in clinical research, while interdisciplinary collaboration is further encouraged. Through the use of big data and AI technologies, the hospital seeks to enhance the precision of diagnosis and treatment, and to translate innovative research into a wide range of medical applications.
Jumin Hospital does not hold profit as its primary aim. As a foundation-based hospital, it is designed with a high degree of flexibility, free from the constraints of the public healthcare system. This allows it to deploy resources and technologies with greater autonomy. Together with the pioneering environment of the Hsinchu Science Park and the growth of the biotechnology sector, these conditions can be expected to form a strong collective momentum, supporting the advancement of clinical research and the application of new technologies.
In the years ahead, Jumin Hospital will become more than a provider of advanced medical services. It is conceived as an integrated institution that brings together education, research, and clinical practice. When people face with complex health challenges, it is hoped that Jumin Hospital will be among the first places they turn to. In time, it may grow into a rising presence in Taiwan’s healthcare landscape, offering reassurance and support for healthier lives, while contributing to the future direction of smart healthcare.
